Performance impact of Motherboard Drivers (excluding Armoury)

Overview:

Today i am testing a controversial topic: Motherboard Drivers.

I always try to inform people that they usually just cause problems, them being bloat essentially.
So i finally ran the test on my z790 Apex Encore (because driver packages are unique to a specific motherboard).
to show the real difference in performance.

Note: these severe fps drops might not translate 1:1 for someone on a different motherboard OR it might even be worse.

Keep in mind this is a 14900K with overclocked RAM (8400cl32) so not all of the systems are going to be fortunate to have this many cores.

Here

Note: I was even nice enough to not count the 0.1% 26 value in the second run in the “Conclusion Chart” even though im 100% sure this would happen more often

What ever happened to our beloved Driver-Packages that we could just install without worries.

Anyway here are the average numbers out of 3 runs:

 Average -3.2%       1% Low -38.48%    /    0.1% Low  -52.77%

After this it should be pretty clear that you should not just recommend these without informing the user about this potentially huge performance loss.

While system security and updated drivers are undeniably critical, they should not come at the expense of performance, especially when the trade off results in a significant degradation of user experience.
